 Proposed Itinerary

"It's Time to Return!"
Holy Land Pilgrimage with Fr. Brian Peters

Dec 1-10, 2026

Dec 1 -  Depart from Cleveland Hopkins Airport in the early evening.

Dec 2 - Arrive in Tel Aviv and drive to our hotel Nof Ginosar (Gennesaret) on the shore
of the Sea of Galilee, near where Jesus called his disciples, for a late dinner and
overnight.

Dec 3 - You don’t want to miss the gorgeous sunrise on the seashore before heading to
Nazareth, the village where Jesus was raised and see the magnificent Basilica of the
Annunciation
where the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary. Then to Megiddo, a site rich
in history for both the Old Testament, New Testament and early church. Haifa Stella
Maris that houses the cave where Elisha lived and near the cave of Elijah. Return to
Nof Ginosar for dinner and overnight.

Dec 4 - Ascend Mt Tabor, traditional site of Jesus’ Transfiguration, site of the
Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes, and Capernaum, the center of Jesus’
ministry to see Peter’s home where Jesus lived, the site of the synagogue where he
ministered, and for an afternoon Mini-Retreat on the seashore. Return to Nof Ginosar
for dinner and overnight.

Dec 5 - Visit Domus Galilee, a beautiful retreat center where Jesus gave the Sermon on
the Mount, visited and blessed by St. John Paul II, followed by a brand new site that is
still under excavation, the most likely spot for Bethsaida and home of Peter and
Andrew. We will end the afternoon in the impressive Magdala, village of Mary
Magdalene,
with a first century synagogue where Jesus preached. Return to Nof
Ginosar for dinner and overnight.

Dec 6 - Leave the Galilee and travel to Beth Shean, one of the best-preserved ruins and
most important Roman cities in the Jordan Valley (and was controlled by the Philistines
when they overtook King Saul and his son, Jonathan in battle), and Jesus’ Baptism

site at the Jordan River. On our way to Jerusalem, we’ll stop at Genesis Land for
camel rides and meet Fr. Abraham to enjoy his hospitality and a delicious Middle
Eastern meal! Dinner and overnight at the beautiful Judah Hotel in Jerusalem.

Dec 7 - Visit Bethlehem (in Advent!) to the Cave where Jesus was born in the Church
of the Nativity, and to see the Cave where Samuel the prophet anointed David king
while he was still a young shepherd boy. From there, participate in the Sifting Project,
looking for coins, mosaic tiles, special stones, from dirt dug up from the Temple Mount,
from as early as the First Temple (Solomon) as well as Second Temple (Herod) periods.
Go to the Mt of Olives Ascension site & Overlook of the Old City of Jerusalem.

Dec 8 - Shiloh, where the Tabernacle and Ark of the Covenant resided for nearly 400
years after Joshua took the Promised Land, and Abu Gosh (Emmaus site) to Mary
Ark of the Covenant Church
(where the Ark of the Covenant was temporarily located
before going to permanently to Jerusalem), followed by the famed Museum of Israel &
Presentation about the Gaza Envelope in IAA new building.

Dec 9 - City of David including (if can be arranged newly discovered ruins of the
"Temple of Melchizedek" &) Pilgrims Road, the actual uncovered road biblical visitors
to Jerusalem would walk from the Pool of Siloam to the Temple for the Feast Days, to
the Western (Wailing) Wall for a brief prayer. Head to Church of Holy Sepulcher,
housing Golgotha (Crucifixion site) and Resurrection Chapel, and finally to Notre
Dame Pentecost Room, a beautifully hand-painted presentation of Pentecost Sunday
on all four walls & Overlook of the Old City from atop the hotel, before enjoying a
Celebration Meal and then off to the airport.

Dec 10 - Return home

Fr. Brian will celebrate daily Mass at some of these holy sites

and be available to hear confessions one evening.
